To start off, the rink and interior are clean and seem to be well maintained. Also the staff were friendly and quick when it came to service. Finding a parking space was hard. Though I understand not much can be done about parking in a place with limited parking, it was still a pain. The food was mainly hotdogs and pizza that look mediocre at best.
Next I’ll just mention that I’ve witnessed at least 9 or 10 games break down on kids, take their money, and not give out coins. The manager basically said it’s the kids fault for not doing it right and that Skate n Fun Zone doesn’t have to give them anything.
The price is also pretty steep in my opinion for the hours of availability.
Spacious and good for beginners. When they get tired they can play in the jungle net. Keeps the timid interesting. Good public skate hours.
Unclean dinning room
The thing about the dinning room is that the only people who clean it are the kitchen staff... and they’re busy committing health code violations. This results in a dinning room that’s covered in a thick layer of trash, spilled drinks, and stale food. It’s not too bad earlier in the day, but by 6 there is not a single clean table in the entire building. I ended up filling a trash can half way just so My family could comfortably sit at a table.
nasty bathrooms
Need I go on? Don’t worry, I will. I can’t even think of ONE good thing about this place. I’ve been here for 3 kids parties and a few school activities and each time is worse then the last! I refuse to give this disgusting place ANY more money.
Terrible staff
Good place to roller skate. Music is normal pop music, and it's not too loud. Food is pretty bad, just pizza and hot dog type stuff. I don't come to places like this for a healthy meal, but it would be nice to have at least ONE healthier option, since outside food and beverage are not allowed.
Flash cooked greasy food
The staff is ok as long as you don't actually need anything.
While the actual rink is nice and there aren't too many people on it at once... the food and parking gave it a three star for me.
Games that aren’t functional
All I’ll say about the management is that they get super close to the kids for pictures and then just disappear. They may poof back into existence if one parent is especially angry over the shambles that is this establishment, but other then that this place is run by 16 year olds.
horrible management
We visit here often, basically because it's the only rink in area that does not require us to drive 50+ minutes away.
I’ll start with the staff; they are all teenagers managed by two middle aged women who are absent 95% of the time. The guy at the prizes smelled like bong water and ignored us for a few minutes to flirt with the front desk girl. The people at the “cafe” looked completely incompetent, they didn’t even wear gloves while preparing the pizzas. I watched one guy in the back go from around the corner to making a pizza to pouring a drink to grabbing a bag of cotton candy BACK to making a pizza! Absolutely unsanitary. There was one good employee here once. She was a hostess for a birthday party back in January and she was attentive and helpful. I haven’t seen her back since that party. Other then that the staff was mainly just rude.
Please shut down.
Next, what they pass off as “food”. Everything that they serve aside from the sodas and cotton candy was frozen at one point or another. Everything is cooked in a flash fryer, all the pizzas are burnt and they taste like something I’d get in a middle school lunch room. The entire building smells like 30 years worth of burnt food, sweaty feet, and mildew. As I mentioned before, they also offer kids parties... well they serve the kids these hard, three-day-old cupcakes that look like they were decorated in under a minute. One of the cupcakes just had a stripe of icing sliding off it while the others looked like their icing had been applied with a plastic knife. Everything was over priced and not worth it! My family and I would get more enjoyment out of watching paint dry then dealing with the bs of this stupid money grab of a business.
The bathrooms.... every time I’ve been here the bathrooms have been increasingly unsanitary. First it was a nasty floor and some questionable toilet seats, then a few weeks later it was urine on the floor, and paper towels mixed with trash covering the counter. I have never once seen this place have a passingly clean bathroom, let alone a sanitary one.
The skating floor is fine. Fairly smooth, not a lot of dents or warped wood.
My biggest complaint would be the hours of operation. The weekend hours are awful. If you want to skate as a family in the evenings on the weekend you are out of luck. Kids under 12 years old can't enter after 8pm on Saturdays and Sundays have shorter skating sessions ending at 5pm. They say "experienced" 12yr old & older skaters on Saturday nights, but I'm not sure who's evaluating skill level because there are plenty of novice skaters on the floor causing collisions and just generally in the way.
To sum up this entire rant I’ll state this; if you can avoid this establishment, DO IT. I don’t see how this relic from the 80’s is still functional, they should have been shut down over sanitation issues a long time ago. It’s quite obvious that no one has cared about this place is decades.
The music is terrible. Especially towards to end of a skating session. Not saying they should play all hip-hop or R&B, but the typical playlist makes it hard to find a rhythm. It's slightly better at night.
